Game console repair Cranbourne
PlayStation, Xbox & Nintendo Console Repairs
Professional diagnosis and repair for common console hardware faults, including HDMI problems, no-power and shutdown faults, Nintendo charging issues, overheating and board-level damage. We diagnose the cause first, explain the repair clearly and seek approval before extra work is carried out.
A console with no picture does not always need an HDMI socket. A console that shuts down does not always need a power supply. We use the symptom, inspection and testing to narrow the fault before recommending parts or board-level work.
Console repair services
Hardware faults we can diagnose and repair
Our console work focuses on faults where careful diagnosis, soldering, internal servicing or component-level repair can make the difference between replacing a part and fixing the actual cause.
HDMI port and no-signal repairs
Damaged, loose or pushed-in HDMI sockets, bent pins, damaged pads and traces, and no-signal faults on supported PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
HDMI circuit and decoder faults
If a good HDMI port still gives no picture, flicker or repeated dropouts, the fault may be deeper in filters, traces, encoders, decoders or related video circuitry.
Power and shutdown faults
Diagnosis for consoles that are completely dead, beep but do not start, power off immediately, or shut down unexpectedly during use.
Nintendo charging and USB-C faults
Charging-port and board-level charging diagnosis for supported Nintendo Switch-family systems, including damaged USB-C ports and faults that remain with known-good chargers.
Cleaning and thermal service
Internal cleaning, airflow inspection and thermal servicing where suitable for consoles that run hot, become noisy, overheat or shut down under load.
Board-level microsoldering
Component replacement, connector work, damaged-pad and trace repair, and supported board-level faults where the motherboard can be repaired economically.
Common symptoms
What is your console doing?
The symptom gives us a useful starting point. Include as much detail as you can when you contact us, especially whether the problem is constant or only appears after the console warms up.
Display and HDMI symptoms
- TV or monitor shows No Signal.
- HDMI plug feels loose or only works at an angle.
- HDMI port has bent pins or visible physical damage.
- Picture flickers, cuts out or reconnects repeatedly.
- Video works cold but disappears after several minutes.
- Console powers normally but never produces a stable picture.
Power, heat and charging symptoms
- No power, no light or no normal startup response.
- Console beeps or lights briefly, then shuts off.
- Console switches off during demanding games.
- Fan is unusually loud, grinding or not operating normally.
- Nintendo Switch-family console will not charge or dock correctly.
- Fault began after impact, liquid exposure or a previous repair attempt.
Not sure what category the fault fits?
That is fine. Send the console model, what it does when you press power, what the TV shows, and anything that happened before the fault started. We can use that information to suggest the next step.
Describe the Console FaultSupported console families
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo
Repair options depend on the exact model, fault and current parts availability. If you are unsure of the model, send a photo of the console label or the console itself when you contact us.
PlayStation
PS5, PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro and PS4-family systems can be assessed for supported HDMI, power, thermal and board-level faults.
Xbox
Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One-family systems can be assessed for supported HDMI, power, cooling, storage-related and board-level faults.
Nintendo
Nintendo Switch-family systems can be assessed for supported USB-C charging, dock/display, power and board-level faults.
HDMI pricing
Clear starting prices for common HDMI work
These prices cover the listed repair when that fault is confirmed. Damaged traces, previous repair damage or a failed HDMI encoder/decoder can change the work required, so extra work is discussed before proceeding.
2 to 3 day turnaround
Standard HDMI Port Replacement
For supported PlayStation and Xbox models when the HDMI socket is confirmed faulty.
- Physical HDMI socket replacement
- Port area inspected for damaged pads and traces
- Display output tested after repair
- Extra board damage quoted before added work
Same-day pickup when available
Express HDMI Port Replacement
Express is a premium option, not a guaranteed turnaround on every job.
- Priority HDMI port repair
- Same-day pickup must actually be provided
- If same-day service is unavailable, the $50 express fee is not charged
- Subject to drop-off time, parts, workload and board condition
Diagnosis first
Advanced HDMI / Board Fault
The exact fault and component must be confirmed before an accurate quote can be given.
- Encoder, decoder, retimer or filter faults
- Damaged pads and traces
- Previous repair damage
- High-cost or uncommon IC replacement
Why diagnosis matters
Two consoles with the same symptom can need very different repairs
A black screen, shutdown or charging fault describes the symptom, not the failed component. That is why we do not assume the most obvious part is always the cause.
A damaged HDMI socket can be obvious
Bent pins, a broken tongue or a loose socket can strongly point to physical port damage, but the surrounding pads and traces still need inspection.
A good-looking port can still have no video
Filters, traces, encoders, decoders and other HDMI circuitry can fail even when the connector looks normal from the outside.
Heat can reveal intermittent faults
Some faults only appear after the console has warmed up. Telling us how long the console works before failing can be useful during diagnosis.
Previous repair work changes the job
Missing pads, bridged pins, overheated boards or incorrectly fitted parts can add repair work that was not present in the original fault.
How the repair works
A clear process from fault to collection
We want you to understand what is being repaired and why before extra parts or higher-cost board work are approved.
Tell us the symptoms
Send the console model, the exact fault, any error messages and whether the console has been opened or repaired before.
Diagnosis
We inspect and test the console to narrow the fault and identify whether the issue is the connector, component, cooling system, power circuit or another area.
Quote and approval
We explain the required work and price. If diagnosis finds extra damage or a more expensive component, we seek approval before adding that work.
Repair and testing
After repair, the affected function is tested and the console is checked for stable operation before collection.
Before drop-off
A few details can make diagnosis easier
Helpful information to bring
- The exact console model if known.
- What happens from the moment you press power.
- Any error code or message shown on screen.
- Whether the fault started after a drop, surge, liquid exposure or repair attempt.
- Whether the problem happens immediately or after playing for a while.
Before bringing the console in
- Remove any game disc if the console can eject it normally.
- Back up important save data where practical before resets or storage work.
- Do not force a cable into a bent or damaged HDMI/USB-C port.
- For accessory-dependent faults, ask whether we need the dock, power adapter or other accessory for testing.
- Stop repeatedly powering a console that has liquid damage, a burning smell or an immediate hard shutdown.

Common questions
Game console repair FAQ
Does no signal always mean the HDMI port is broken?
No. The cable, display settings, port, filters, traces and HDMI processing circuitry can cause similar symptoms. Physical inspection and testing help separate them.
How long does a console repair take?
Standard HDMI port replacement is generally quoted at 2 to 3 days. Other faults depend on diagnosis, parts availability, board condition and current workload.
Will you do extra work without asking?
No. If diagnosis finds extra damage or a different fault that changes the price, we explain it and seek approval before proceeding with the added work.
Can every console be repaired?
No. Severe board damage, unavailable parts or repair costs that exceed the sensible value of the console can make a repair impractical. We will explain the available options.
Do you work on consoles that another shop has already attempted?
Yes, they can be assessed. Previous work can affect repairability and price if pads, traces, components or the board have been damaged.
Is repaired work covered by warranty?
Eligible repairs include written warranty information on the invoice. Coverage depends on the repair and device condition and applies alongside rights that may exist under Australian Consumer Law.
